Biohub expanded its Virtual Biology Initiative to $1.8 billion on October 7, 2026, to build AI models of living cells. Meta, Google DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs contributed $300 million. The US Department of Energy is set to invest more than $500 million over five years, and NVIDIA is also listed as a partner. All data and models are to be openly accessible to researchers.
