The IRS issued Revenue Procedure 2026-20 on Oct. 6, replacing Revenue Procedure 2025-31, so investment and grantor trusts holding a proof-of-stake asset can stake without losing trust status. Conditions: exchange-listed trust interests, custodian-held keys, and staking through third-party providers with no relationship to the trust or its sponsor, dealing at arm's length.
Also in kucoin.comSharpLink Gaming plans to stake $200 million in ETH through Lido, converting it to wstETH held in custody by Anchorage Digital. Lido holds about $16.5 billion in ETH, and SharpLink can deploy the wstETH in DeFi while the underlying ETH keeps earning staking rewards.
