It also holds a last-minute Whitney union contract, the Lagos Biennial lineup, and solo and group shows in London, Oxford, New York and Maine. The Whitney labor story and the Cairo mural row are the most newsworthy items.
The Ogunquit Museum of American Art (through November 1) and Bates College Museum of Art (through December 19) are each showing Carl Sprinchorn (1887–1971), a Swedish-born American modernist. The Bates show has over seventy works spanning the 1900s to the 1960s, and a joint catalogue accompanies both.
Whitney Museum union staff ratified a contract on October 4, averting a strike planned to start October 5 ahead of the Lichtenstein retrospective previews. The deal includes raises of at least 14.75% over four years, a $26 hourly wage floor, and up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave.
