The Cardano Foundation, a Swiss-based not-for-profit, announced at TOKEN2049 on Oct 7, 2026 that its programmable token standard CIP-0113 is live on Cardano mainnet after multiple independent security audits. It lets issuers of stablecoins, tokenised funds and bonds build KYC/AML checks, sanctions screening, freeze and seize, and transfer restrictions into native tokens, enforced by the ledger. It needed no hard fork, and CMTA now recognizes the standard.

The network checks those rules before a transfer is accepted.
On Oct 5, 2026 the Ethereum Economic Zone (EEZ), run by Gnosis and Zisk with Ethereum Foundation support, made a demo atomic L1-to-L2 transfer of 0.001 ETH. Etherscan shows it in block 26,127,444 with a fee of about $0.80. The report stresses that EEZ has not shipped a product and nothing has changed in Ethereum's protocol. Two-way calls, nested cross-chain calls and real-time proving remain on a roadmap running through 2027.
